Work Auto Accident Training

Accidents happen. Your job as a driver is to avoid accidents, but they happen, and they must to be handled correctly.

If you are in a work auto accident

  • You are not financially responsible for damage to vehicles or other property

  • If you are injured, our insurance covers your injury

  • If the other driver(s) or passenger(s) are injured, insurance covers your injury

  • For insurance to cover these costs, you must take the correct steps if you are in an accident

  • If you do not take the proper steps after an accident, you put yourself and others at risk

In this training we will define:

  • Requirements when driving for Eby Construction

  • When you are driving for Eby Construction

  • When you are not driving for Eby Cosntruction

  • What a work auto accident is

  • Steps to follow in the event of a work auto accident

Requirements When Driving for Eby Construction

  • Before beginning your drive, check vehicle and any load for safety, and tie-downs if applicable

  • Follow all traffic laws

  • Do not use phone, text, web browser, or any other electronic device, other than audible GPS navigation

    • To set GPS navigation, find a safe place to park, park your vehicle, set navigation

    • Begin driving again after GPS navigation is set up and operating properly

  • Keep a safe following distance

  • Do not wave people on or direct other drivers, bikers or pedestrians

  • Focus only on driving. Do not drive distracted

When are you driving for Eby Construction?

  • Any time you are driving a company vehicle you are driving for Eby Construction, whether working or not working

  • Any time you are driving during your workday you are driving for Eby Construction. This does not include your commute to and from work (see below)

When are you not driving for Eby Construction?

  • In a personal vehicle, your first drive of the day, to get to work, is your commute to work. This commute is not driving for Eby Construction.

  • In a personal vehicle, your last drive away from work for the day is your commute from work. This commute is not driving for Eby Construction

  • In your personal vehicle, if you stop work in the middle of your shift and drive for a personal reason, you are not driving for Eby Construction

    • A few examples of mid-shift personal driving: driving to get food; driving to a medical appointment; driving to transport a child; driving to/from a child’s school, running a personal errand.

What is a work auto accident?

  • A work auto accident is any accident that happens while you are driving for Eby Construction
